Concertina coils are linked directly to the top of the chain link fabric, while leaving the top rail. Top rail requires box or diagonal bracings or both from the corners to the last posts to the starting line posts. The chain link fabric needs to be used with the barbs up, and a 7 gage or 9 gage coil spring tension wire is used in the place of top rail. Employing a top wire on all sorts of barbed tape products is highly recommended, while installation is done on fences or walls.

This is best accomplished by extending every other line post and all tension posts and running a strand of barbed wire over the line of the fences. The top of each loop should be hog-ringed up to the top wire.
